Dry, with dusty, cedary oak at the forefront of the flavors. It shows off a range of dried currant, black cherry and wild berry fruit that offers a mix of ripeness and tartness, but at this point is a bit disjointed. Best from 2007 through 2012. 1,20... Winemaker's Notes:

APPELLATION: Oakville, Napa Valley VARIETAL: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon FERMENTATION: Typical for red wine AGING: French oak barrels (42% new, 58% once-used) CASES PRODUCED: 41208 cases A warm, mild spring produced excellent growing conditions for this vineyard. The vines continued to strengthen this year and production levels improved. Warm temperatures in late September, combined with low humidity, pushed sugar and flavor development ahead of our expectations and really concentrated the fruit. The 2002 Branding Iron Cabernet Sauvignon was tank fermented, resulting in the development of rich, coating tannins. This wine opens with a mouthful of cherry and cranberry fruit mixed with elements of dried herb and tea. Toasted oak fills the middle palate with elements of spice and smoke, while the soft tannins finish with harmony and grace.
