Nickel & Nickel Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger Vyd. Oakville 2013

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Nickel & Nickel Winery was started with the idea of producing only extraordinary single vineyard Napa Valley wines. Each one is very low production and from unique sub-appellations throughout the Valley. The home vineyard of Nickel & Nickel, Sullenger Vineyard is situated behind the winery in the heart of Oakville and is named for John C. Sullenger, who settled the farmstead in the 1880’s. The vineyard’s 30 acres of clay loam soil planted exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon. This is Nickel & Nickel’s signature wine with ultra-ripe fruit and classic Oakville structure. Black cherry fruit layered with sweet herb, spice and cedar play bath the palate and linger on the finish. Drinks well now, but will continue to develop for 8-12 years. Robert Parker scored this 2013 94 points saying "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger Vineyard (14.9% alcohol) shows gorgeous blueberry and blackberry fruit, white flowers, sweet tannins and a full bodied opulence. There is plenty of structure behind all the fruit, and the wine is a 25-year wine for sure."
