Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

A warm spring with ideal growing conditions produced a good balance of fruit and
vigor in this vineyard. Incremental changes over the last few years really started to
show through the read more...use of irrigation management and various pruning practices. We
hired a new vineyard crew dedicated solely to farming this property in 2002, and they
are responsible for the meticulous care of the old portion vineyard as well as the newly
planted section. Heat spikes and low humidity in the late summer concentrated the
fruit flavors, but we waited for the tannins to fully mature before harvesting the fruit.
John C. Sullenger is proving to be one of our best vineyards. This wine is similar in
flavor and concentration to the 2001 vintage, but the palate is very round. The wine
explodes with ripe fruit flavors of blackberry and sweet cherry with layers of sweet herb
and an Oakville dustiness filling the middle palate. Notes of coffee and spice, coupled
with sweet, toasty oak, carry into the long, supple tannins that create this wineÕs
beautiful, lingering finish.    (hide)
