Nickel & Nickel Cabernet Kelham 2011

External Review:

Gil Nickel who founded Far Niente Winery started Nickel & Nickel with the idea of producing just extraordinary single vineyard Napa Valley wines. Each is very low production from a unique sub-appellation in the Valley. This Cabernet is from Kelham Vineyard, a 52-acre planting located at the base of the western hills of Oakville. The soil is comprised of well-drained, clay loam, combined with Oakville’s warm climate, it's perfect location for slow ripening fruit, richly flavored. Aging is 16 months in French oak barrels. Robert Parker scored this wine 90 points and said "The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Kelham Vineyard offers more lavender and bouquet garni notes along with black currant fruit. Rich, with sweet tannins and a wild herb-like component, this medium to full-bodied Cabernet should drink well for 15-20 years."
