Oak, fruit, but there was some pretty serious mercaptins going on with this wine - its too hard to judge with such a fault.

Winemaker's Notes:

Bien Nacido Vineyards is located in the Santa Maria Valley of Santa Barbara County. The Pacific Ocean’s cooling effect on the climate there yields rich ripe fruit with terrific natural acidity and is perfect for producing balanced, elegant wines. The 2005 Chardonnay has a creamy nose of toasty oak and vanilla with notes of tropical fruits and hints of butter. The wine has rich, ripe fruit on the palate with a lush creamy mouth feel and great fruit character ranging from stone fruit to ripe apple. The natural acidity shows through the long finish exquisitely, yielding a Chardonnay that will be excellent with food or on its own. Please Note: Our chardonnay is unfiltered in order to preserve the full complexity of the wine. While the naturally occurring tartrate crystals are tasteless and harmless, you may wish to decant prior to serving.
