Food Pairings for Nichol Syrah
This well known Naramata winery was an early experimenter in the Syrah variety (Nichol himself was a pioneering wine author in British Columbia). The 2010 has wonderful Crozes-Hermitage colour and redolence with many straw and barnyard scents and tart red fruit such as wild cranberry, chokecherry and a hint of spice cake and black pepper. Very correct. On entry, the treat continues with just a bit more tartness than a Northern Rhone. A very fine example of what can be done when vineyard practices and wine-making are first rate. Try with stew. 89 points.
