Rating: 88/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. Here is a gutsy, fairly big-bodied Merlot that has plenty of extract and ripeness, yet, if far from polished, it earns good marks for substance and depth. It teams a touch of dark chocolate with lots of black cherry fruit and is seasoned with an insistent streak of woodsy spice. It is solid and still on the gruff side just now, and it is not likely to charm for at least another four or five years.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.
