Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay Napa Valley 2009
Fantastic Napa chardonnay, creamy lemon custard, subtle spiceness, crisp acidity, green apple and a long finish. Extremely well balanced, with great mouthfeel. One of the best California chardonnays ever tasted.
Nice and crisp, has a sourness to it I found pleasing but hard to describe outside of the typical green apple, pear, and lemon notes. Perhaps a touch on the high side of judicious oak treatment, it doesn't get in the way. Nice, mellow persistent finish. Works for me. 3.25+
Tastes pretty good to me.

The 2003 Chardonnay Red Label displays straightforward tropical fruit, heady alcohol, and good ripeness. Drink over the next 1ndash;3 years.
I've actually always loved the Newton Chardonnay, but for some reason, it had fallen off my radar until I retasted it recently. The 2008 vintage still has the prominent creamy oak and toasted nut notes that Newton is famous for, as well as ripe tropical fruit elements, but the wine seems brighter than I remember, with fresh acidity and a smooth, clean finish. A classic match for pasta alfredo, this wine would also be amazing with fish in cream sauce, grilled mushrooms or creamy cheeses such as brie, camembert or gouda.
Yellow-gold. Spiced apple and pear on the nose, lifted by lemon zest and flowers. Supple, sweet and easygoing, with moderately concentrated flavors of apricot, pear and vanillin oak. Nicely fresh and intense, with ripe acidity and a slight warmth on the back end.

Enticing, delicate notes of honeysuckle, white nectarine and peach are intertwined with baked apple, vanilla spice and freshly baked bread aromas. On the palate, stone fruit flavors combine with ripe melon and fig. This well-balanced Chardonnay has a velvety mouthfeel that persists throughout the lingering, refreshing finish.
'A classic expression of unfiltered Chardonnay; this rich and powerful wine opens with aromas of citrus flowers, coconut, butterscotch and roasted almonds. On the palate the wine combines butter and oak with layers of peach, mango and honey and a touch of mineral on the finish. To fully enjoy the rich intensity of this wine, serve it with simply prepared succulent dishes such as broiled monk fish, braised pork with apples, or salmon with tarragon aioli.' -Winery
Winemaker Notes - Enticing and delicate aromas of white nectarine and vanilla spice are intertwined with baked apple and caramel notes. The aromas carry through to the palate where they are accented by ripe melon and fresh pineapple flavors. The velvety mouthfeel of this well-balanced Chardonnay persists throughout the lingering and refreshing citrus finish. The lush and approachable flavors of this balanced wine make it a versatile, food-friendly choice. Winemaker Chris Millard suggests pairing with baked halibut, roasted poultry or a savory pecan tart.
