Fantastic Napa chardonnay, creamy lemon custard, subtle spiceness, crisp acidity, green apple and a long finish. Extremely well balanced, with great mouthfeel. One of the best California chardonnays ever tasted.
Nice and crisp, has a sourness to it I found pleasing but hard to describe outside of the typical green apple, pear, and lemon notes. Perhaps a touch on the high side of judicious oak treatment, it doesn't get in the way. Nice, mellow persistent finish. Works for me. 3.25+

The 2002 Chardonnay Red Label is a blend of 60% Napa and 40% Sonoma fruit. It has a nose of buttered popcorn, caramel, and white flowers in a medium to full-bodied, fruit-driven style.
This blend of grapes from Sonoma and slightly cooler Carneros vineyards combines lush, tropical fruits with a vibrancy that makes your mouth almost sing with joy.
I've actually always loved the Newton Chardonnay, but for some reason, it had fallen off my radar until I retasted it recently. The 2008 vintage still has the prominent creamy oak and toasted nut notes that Newton is famous for, as well as ripe tropical fruit elements, but the wine seems brighter than I remember, with fresh acidity and a smooth, clean finish. A classic match for pasta alfredo, this wine would also be amazing with fish in cream sauce, grilled mushrooms or creamy cheeses such as brie, camembert or gouda.
Good Chardonnays come and go, but the Newton Red Label is one that never disappoints. This is probably the fattest, creamiest Chard we sell for under $20 - the perfect accompaniment to any alfredo or béchamel sauce, creamy soup or soft cheeses such as brie or camembert. And while I love the richness of the texture, as well as the buttery popcorn and caramel notes, the vibrant tropical fruit (banana, papaya and melon) along with terrific acidic structure are what help to hallmark this as a well-balanced, universally-likeable white, instead of just another oaky Cali Chardonnay.
The 2001 Chardonnay Naturally Fermented (58% Napa and 42% Sonoma fruit) exhibits copious quantities of butterscotch and caramel characteristics in its evolved, fruity personality. Drink it over the next year.
From the renowned Newton Winery in Napa Valley, this white has round flavors of honey and brown butter, with tart apple notes to awaken the palate.
Fruit-driven, though on the simple side, with a whiff of candied pineapple commingling with creamy vanilla scents. Drink now through 2006.
