Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay Napa Valley 2007
pear, vanilla, a little melon and oranges combined with a lemon zest on the finish. very flavorful. oak prevalent but balanced well with the acidity. really delicious, and complex for a napa chardonnay!
amazing manipulation of the acidity in the wine that creates an array of scents to delight the nose. A little apricot, pear and green apple. First tasted this wine when I visited the opening of the Vineyard in santa helena back in 2008. Chris Millard is consistenly dlivering on quality without going overboard on the price. I strongly believe this is a huge marketing factor for this wine as I noticed that big stores as Costco carried several of the Newton products (cabernet, chardonnay and melot) Kuddos to Newton for continued efforts to deliver excellence in their wines and production.

The 2007 Unfiltered Chardonnay is an inviting dark straw hue. This powerful wine opens with ripe melon and fig notes layered with allspice, cinnamon and caramel aromas. Flavors of baked pear, poached apple, caramel and fresh pie crust persist on the lingering creamy finish. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
Newton Vineyards is recognized as an American pioneer of unfiltered wines, a philosophy that adds complexity to the winemaking process and demands meticulousness and attention to detail, but maximizes all the subtle characters of the fruit. Grapes for this profound and powerful Chardonnay are grown on the Newton estate in the Carneros region and other marine-influenced sites where bay breezes and morning fog combine to create the cooler climate idea for full and rich flavor development. Scored 92 points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and 91 by the Wine Spectator who "A rich, unctuous, buttery style. Full-bodied, with spicy fig, melon, smoky oak and honeydew melon flavors that gain depth, body and complexity, ending with a roasted marshmallow aftertaste. Still a bit coarse in texture, but all the right ingredients are in the right places. Drink now through 2016." Rich and balanced, this wine opens with enticing aromas of pear, baked apple and white peach accented by hints of nutmeg and clove. On the palate, fresh tangerine and dried apricot flavors mingle with vanilla creating a uniquely pure wine that is both refreshingly bright yet richly textured.
From the renowned Newton Winery in Napa Valley, this white has round flavors of honey and brown butter, with tart apple notes to awaken the palate.
