The 2002 The Puzzle possesses a saturated ruby/purple hue as well as a primary, tight, but evocative bouquet of creme de cassis, earth, and a hint of new oak. This tannic, full-bodied, structured 2002 requires another 2-4 years of bottle age. Easily ... Robert Parker. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2002 Newton Puzzle 750ml

Winemaker's Notes:

Accolades 93 points "...This tannic, full-bodied, structured 2002...is easily the equivalent of a top-notch second or third-growth Bordeaux." Wine Advocate, December 2005 Tasting Notes Expansive and luxurious, this full-bodied red re-invents itself with each taste. The wine opens with rich aromas of cassis and touches of raspberries, dark chocolate and kirsch cherries. On the palate, expect a velvety explosion of blueberries, raspberry liquor, black fig and dark cherry bolstered by ripe tannins. With time in the cellar, this multifaceted wine will continue to develop complexity and flavor. Food & Wine Pairing We suggest decanting this wine to allow the full power of the wine to unfold. The concentrated fruit found in The Puzzle makes it an exceptional companion to hearty dishes such as duck cassoulet, grilled venison with a cherry reduction sauce, or braised veal with Portobello mushrooms. For desert, try it with an elegant combination of chocolate and nuts such as chocolate mocha cake with a hazelnut sauce. Composition 35% Cabernet Franc 33% Cabernet Sauvignon 23% Merlot 9% Petit Verdot
