Mostly Merlot, with quite a bit of Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, Newton's Claret is a clear, deep red color with touches of black cherry. On the nose, the balance is harmonized between coffee, pepper and fresh blueberries. Fruits, like blackcurrant, cranberry and cherry, evolve on the palate and linger with a spring-like freshness."The 2002 Claret has a perfumed, Bordeaux-like aroma of plums, figs, cranberries, currants, and anise followed by elegant, medium-bodied flavors with a touch of herbs and a nice structure."Robert ParkerThe Wine Advocate, February 2005
