What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Newton owns a vineyard and manages three others in Carneros. The fruit is hand picked, undergoes barrel fermentation with natural yeasts including the malolactic fermentation. The barrels with the most natural acidity are bottled as Red Label.

Reviews

Enticing and delicate notes of honeysuckle, white nectarine and peach are intertwined with baked apple, vanilla spice and freshly baked bread aromas. On the palate, stone fruit flavors combine with ripe melon and fig. This well-balanced Chardonnay's velvety mouthfeel persists throughout the lingering and refreshing finish.

Rich and balanced, this wine opens with enticing aromas of pear, baked apple and white peach accented by hints of nutmeg and clove. On the palate, fresh tangerine and dried apricot flavors mingle with vanilla creating a uniquely pure wine that is both refreshingly bright yet richly textured.

Very Good. Best of tasting. Round, ripe and comforting, with abundant oak but also abundant fruit and good acidity. Nice tropical fruits and some real zing. Classy, with presence, but not heavy.
