What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Newton owns a vineyard and manages three others in Carneros. The fruit is hand picked, undergoes barrel fermentation with natural yeasts including the malolactic fermentation. The barrels with the most natural acidity are bottled as Red Label.

From the renowned Newton Winery in Napa Valley. Honey, brown butter, and apple notes awaken the palate.

'A classic expression of unfiltered Chardonnay; this rich and powerful wine opens with aromas of citrus flowers, coconut, butterscotch and roasted almonds. On the palate the wine combines butter and oak with layers of peach, mango and honey and a touch of mineral on the finish. To fully enjoy the rich intensity of this wine, serve it with simply prepared succulent dishes such as broiled monk fish, braised pork with apples, or salmon with tarragon aioli.' -Winery

A huge, floral, and white peach nose with some oily citrus and tropical fruit (primarily only pineapple)-powerful, broad, beautifully layered, harmonious, and pure.

WA 92Pts - Tasting Notes - The 2006 Unfiltered Chardonnay is an inviting dark straw hue. This powerful wine opens with rich cr me caramel, butterscotch and fresh vanilla bean aromas, later revealing baked apple and nutty characters. Flavors of white peach and caramel with a touch of honey round out this full-bodied, balanced wine with a lingering creamy finish.
