Food Pairings for Neudorf Pinot Noir Moutere
Since founding the estate in 1978 on the north-facing slopes of the Moutere Valley, at the top of the South Island, Tim and Judy Linn have created an international reputation for all their wines: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Riesling. The vineyards are dry farmed on gravelly, clay-rich soils. Nelson is one of the sunniest parts of New Zealand and the warm summers, extending into cooler autumn nights, produce intense and rich-textured wines. The Moutere Pinot Noir resembles perhaps more closely Burgundy than anything else from New Zealand. Nevertheless, Tim politely corrects the observation, upon tasting the Moutere wines that they were "classic Burgundy" with the reply "No, they're classic Moutere!"
