What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

[91 pts Stephen Tanzer] Bright yellow. Smoky leesy mineral-driven aromas of orange buttery brioche and iodine. Deep and chewy with concentrated citrus and orchard fruit flavors braced by chalky minerals. Gains weight and a buttery nutty quality on the long sappy finish. This could pass for a suave Meursault.

Sourced from five Dutton ranch properties along with Rochioli and Heintz Vineyards. Crisply lean and austere across the board with lemon and shortbread in the nose. On the palate look for essences of soft licorice, mineral and pear. Firm structure.

David Ramey believes in showing off the differences in terroir for his wines, and because of this, each Chardonnay from different sights is vinified the same. The Russian River is a cooler climate, resulting in a Chardonnay with a fresh acidity, with notes of honeysuckle and citrus.
