Nemiroff Honey Pepper Vodka NV

Member Review by BVWineS:

Fantastic beverage - a kind of Ukraine's visiting card. It won highly regarded reputation with consumers in Russia and other countries where people know what true vodka is about. By its nature, conflicting combination gives vodka an unexpectedly memorable taste and a lasting aftertaste. A subtle infusion of honey and wild herbs creates a smooth and delicately spiced blend which perfectly compliments the warmth of the red chili peppers. Try shot of it with the strawberry or discover the new taste of a classic “Bloody Mary” with it!

Nemiroff is one of the largest producers of alcohol products in Ukraine, exporting its products to 55 countries worldwide. In 1872 the world famous distillery was lunched in the town of Nemirov by Gregoriy Stroganov - Assistant Commander of Defence Minister in the Imperial Russian Army. By the end of 19th century Nemiroff was the key supplier of vodka to Russian Tsar’s house. In 1921 Nemiroff distillery was acquired by The Soviet government and later became the most popular distillery in the USSR. In 1992, after management buyout Nemiroff started its rise into the leading vodka producer worldwide, dedicated to quality and unique alcohol recipes. The company cites growth rates of over 40% per year in 2003 and 2004 earned the designation of International Fastest Growing Alcohol Brand from the World Millionaires Club, among alcohol brands that sold more than 1 million cases. The growth of more than 40% a year enabled the company to move up from the 33rd to 13th position in the world alcohol producer's rating in just over three years. By 2005 Nemiroff climbed to the 4th position, being outsold only by Smirnoff, Stolichnaya and Absolut. According data published by The IWSR Drinks Record magazine, at the end of 2006 Nemiroff became the second largest vodka producer in the world, trailing only Smirnoff. In 2009 Nemiroff Holding celebrated one year from the start of production in Russia. The brand portfolio of products produced under the international brand Nemiroff consists of 28 items. The main trademarks are Nemiroff Original, Ukrainian Honey with Pepper, Ukrainian Birch Special, Nemiroff Premium, and Nemiroff LEX. In 2009 Ultra LEX was introduced on the market as revolutionary purest vodka ever, produced by unique recipe. The history of vodka in Russia began in 1386 when Genoese merchants first brought “aqua vitae” to Moscow. Instead of grapes, Russians used rye to extract ethanol, thus the Russian called vodka “bread wine” at first. Back then vodka was frequently flavored with herbs, berries or spices, and in 16th-17th centuries anise vodka was very common. A classical definition of vodka is “a drink of water and ethanol, containing a small amount of impurities, sometimes with berry or fruit flavorings as well as spices.” The alcohol content may range from 35 to 56 percent. But there is much more to know about the beloved drink of the Slavs. Read less

This vodka is traditionally used as an apertif to provoke ones appetite. Crimean honey, natural lemon oil and sweet-grass extract are used to soften the pungent Cayenne pepper.
