Food Pairings for Nederburg Pinotage
Smooth, crisp and light with a nice finish.
Wow, really excellent wine here, and frankly, I wasn't expecting much. I had tried one other Pinotage in my life, which was $20, and terrible in my opinion, so how could one half the price be any better? Long story short, it was MUCH better. Easy on the palate, smooth, manageable tannins, and really, really fruit forward. Almost tastes immature upon first sip, but perhaps only because of the fruit. The stoic look of the label would prevent this from being a bring-to-a-party wine, but at home on a Friday night with nothing to do? This bottle will be your new best friend from South Africa :).
Bouquet: Plum and cherry fruitiness with slight oak spices in the background. Palate: Well balanced, rich fruit flavors with soft tannins and a lingering after-taste.
