External Reviews for Neal Family Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Howell Mountain
This is the second bottling of Neal's Sauvignon Blanc which achieves their goal of producing a wine that captures classic sauvignon blanc fruit characters, a hint of very ripe tropical flavors and a richness without using any oak aging. The intense aromas include citrus, floral blossoms and the hint of pineapple-guava characters. First impressions in the mouth are of citrus: Meyer lemon, lime and grapefruit. After the initial impact of a bright and lively mouthfeel, more of the tropical flavors appear, including passion fruit and pineapple. The finish has a slight creamy texture, creating a great long finish and pleasant aftertaste. This is a delightful food wine. Mark J. Neal built Neal Family Vineyards winery to compliment his family's forty-year history of winemaking in the Napa Valley. It is their goal to craft superior valley and mountain grown wines, organically farmed and produced and bottled on Howell Mountain in Napa County, California. They ensure that the entire winemaking process is quality driven--from ground, to grape, to glass--and only release wines that they feel express the very best qualities of ultra premium Napa Valley fruit and represent their family's ongoing dedication to the superiority associated with the wines of this region.
This is a wine that captures classic Sauvignon Blanc fruit characters and a hint of very ripe tropical flavors. Very intense aromas include pure Sauvignon Blanc fruit, gooseberry, citrus, floral blossoms, and tropical fruits. While the bright acidity contributes to a long, lingering character, a richness softens the mouth-feel and adds complexity. Best served cold and pairs well with chicken, seafood and rich, flavorful sauces. Not yet reviewed 2010 vintage rated 92 points by Wine Enthusiast.
