Neal Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Atlas Peak Second Chance Vineyard 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

The first development on this site was in 1984. We have planted and replanted this Atlas Peak vineyard over the years, at an elevation of 1450 feet. The lack of soil and volcanic rock required several loads of dynamite to prepare for planting. Typical of rocky, low vigor, mountain vineyards, we harvest fruit with amazing power and concentration. Our first Certified Organic crop was harvested in 2002.The Second Chance wines usually rank as some of the most intense wines in the cellar. They are consistantly dark in color and full of very rich classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas and flavors. We find aromas of tea, toast, cassis, red cherry candy. Flavors include chocolate, cherry, coffee, sweet fruit, oak/toast, anise spice. The wine finishes with long mouthful of serious tannin, indicating a potential for extended aging.100% ATLAS PEAK AVA, NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNONHARVEST DATES: September 14-24, 2004VINEYARD LOCATION:100% Atlas Peak, Organically grown (CCOF Certified)COOPERAGE AND PRODUCTION: Barrel Aged 30 Months in 100% new French Oak.Cooperage: Boutes, Cadus, Fouguet, St. Martin, Seguin Moreau.Bottled March 23, 2007275 Cases ProducedTECHNICAL DATA: Alcohol: 14.2%pH: 3.92TA: 0.52

A wine that will hold its structure days after opening with just recorking. This cab is that well crafted and framed. Wonderful out of the bottle and changes nicely with each breath of air. Awesome cab! - Tasted at winery with Mark Neal 4/23/10
