Welcome to Navarro Vineyards. Our family has been growing grapes, making wine and producing non-alcoholic grape juices in the Anderson Valley in coastal Mendocino since 1974. Since we are small, you probably will not find our wine in your local store. The majority of our production is sold directly. We hope this website makes it easier for Navarro fans to keep in touch.
Excellent muscat late harvest from Mendocino. Dried apricot, sweet and acidic but not cloying. Nice long finish with a bit of citrus and some floral notes.
Not enough acidity for me in this honeysuckle and apricot dessert wine that is sweet with a slight coconutty edge. Doubt it will improve much with age, without the acid.
One of the best things that Navarro does is late harvest wines. If you like to drink your dessert, these are really good, especially when accompanied by roasted chestnuts. This particular bottle, our last of the vintage, was caramel colored and beautifully scented with lichee and peach notes. Very sweet on the palate but balanced by enough acid and a bit of burned caramel (but not in a bad way). It had a long finish and the last tastes were of the bitterness of grapefruit rind. Although this was enjoyable, the do a little better with their CSLH Rieslings and Gewürtztraminers.
