For the price, it's hard to go wrong with this wine. Performs solidly when called upon to do its job, as long as you don't expect a virtuoso performance. It's versatile-one can both marinate the steak with it and serve with the steak later, with zero guilt. It's passable, more than tolerable, drinkable in casual contexts, but probably not memorable. I can get it for 5.99 for a 750 ml bottle. It is THE go to bargain wine. Like I said- hard to go wrong with this one.

I was quite shocked actually at just how good this Montepulciano is...especially for the money. Seeing it at a local wine/liquor megastore for a mere $3.99, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself at just how bad this might have been. I was wrong. Far smoother than Montepulciano's that are three times the price of this, the La Monica worked quite well with an assortment of Italian cheeses and cured meats. Thumbs up. Well worth it for less than the price of an extra value meal at McDonald's.

This is my house Italian red for tomato sauce based Italian food. Been drinking it for over 10 years. Nothing special but definitely a good bang for the buck via the 1.5 liter bottle. I prefer it to be at least 3 years old.

Cherry flavors and spice with a middle palate of fresh strawberries and a finish that is smooth and agreeable. Nice match with pasta dishes, burgers and semi-hard cheeses.

This medium-bodied Italian is garnet red in color, with hints of red berries and smoky vanilla on the nose. Raspberry jam notes are balanced by a subtle earthiness and forward acidity.

Soft and sweet tannins with plenty of soft red fruit and strawberry/cherry flavors allow this wine to work with soft mild cheeses salads topped with beef tenderloin medallions and chicken dishes in a light brown gravy.

What a terrific all-purpose dinner wine! Light- to medium-bodied, with bright cherry and red raspberry fruit notes. Refreshing acidity and not a whole lot of tannin; great for everyday drinking. Excellent value!
