Napa Wine Company Petite Sirah Blockhouse Vineyard Yountville Napa Valley 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

The philosophy of the Napa Wine Company winemaking program is - let the vineyard do the talking. We strive to allow the varietal character of the fruit to express itself with minimal guidance. The deep rich garnet color that the Petite Sirah varietal is known for carries through in this wine with concentrated fruit flavors reminiscent of plums, cherries and blackberries. The intense tannins typically associated with Petite Sirah are managed during fermentation to give a rich, round finish. Harvested mid September at 26.2 Brix Varietal Content: 100% Petite Sirah Vineyard Sourcing: 100% Block House Vineyard, Yountville, Napa Valley 100% Organically Grown Cooperage: Aged 18 months in 100% French Oak Production & Technical Data: Alcohol: 15.7 Acid: .552 pH: 3.50 Winemaker: Sheldon Parker Production 46 Cases Release Date: September 1, 2006

Selective leaf and shoot removal reduces fungus and mildew pressure. Cover crops like oats, peas, mustard and vetch, are planted between rows to naturally inhibit soil erosion, reduce dust, restore nutrients and encourage microbiological activity. Even grape skins and stems are composted after harvest and added back to the soil, replenishing nitrogen and potassium and increasing microbiological activity. Read less
