Napa Reserve Mary's Sauvignon Blanc 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Vineyard Information Mary's Vineyard is located north of Calistoga. It is a level, 22-acre site with moderately fertile soils, good sun exposure and excellent air circulation. In addition to the ideal terroir, we use sustainable farming methods accompanied by low yields to preserve the essential personality of this site. This was the first vineyard purchased by the Trinchero Family and is named for Mary Trinchero, Mario's wife and mother to Bob, Roger and Vera. Winemaking Flooding kicked off the New Year in Napa Valley, but did little damage to dormant vines, as cover crops stabilized soils in vineyards while rain continued into spring. Bud break was delayed by a few weeks, but by June the weather had turned and vines began to bloom and set fruit. In mid-July, a record-setting heat wave lasted about ten days, but with the crop a few weeks behind the historically normal cycle, no damage occurred. In fact, the heat helped catch the vines up to a "normal" place in the typical growing season. Seasonal and somewhat cooler weather returned in August. The mild weather pattern continued allowing for moderately paced and deliberate ripening. The resulting wine has wonderful perfume and very good density. For texture and weight, the wine was partially barrel fermented (20%) in used oak barrels. Additional complexity was gained by combining Wenteand Musque clones.Tasting Notes Mary's Vineyard continues to produce wines with remarkable intensity and structure. This Sauvignon Blanc exudes ripe, exotic flavors on top of firm, palate-cleansing acids. In 2006 no new oak was used, allowing us to accentuate the bright, fresh fruit. Lightly grassy and very zingy, this wine brings together the best aspects of sauvignon blanc. Chef NotesThis Sauvignon Blanc can be enjoyed while nibbling on mild cheeses with crackers or with a variety of other dishes. Our winery chefs often serve the Mary's Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc with Grilled Cilantro-Lime Ahi Tuna.Wine Information Alcohol: 14.2% T.A.: .53g/100ml Oak: 5 months in used French barrels for 20% of the blend, balance in stainless steel Cases: 1270 6-packs Release Date: July 2007

Trinchero Napa Valley:
'The Trincher Napa Valley winery is a work of art unto itself- -the perfect place to craft our new luxury wines. As an architect, this Project has been especially meaningful to me. No detail was overlooked and we worked tirelessly to not only malce this a great functioning winery, but to also make it a place for friends and family to gather'
