Napa Cellars Zinfandel Napa Valley 1999
The 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin is a classic blend of 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Counoise. Aged in foudre prior to being bottled without filtration, it represents the essence of Beaucastel's distinctive and atypical Mourvedre-dominated style of Chateauneuf du Pape. Its inky/black/purple color is accompanied by a fabulous perfume of licorice, smoke, truffles, tapenade, blackberries, and cassis. Extremely full-bodied, with masses of extract, high tannin, and a structured, long finish (lasting nearly a minute), this sumptuous effort requires 6-7 years of bottle age. It should keep for 25-35 years.

Editorial Reviews for Napa Cellars Zinfandel Napa Valley
Tight and focused on the nose with beautiful, spicy, leathery, clean aromas that are still youthful with hints of chalk, spice, and dark fruit On entry this is almost voluptuous with really vibrant acids with decisive cut and round, ample tannins that segue into spicy dark cherry fruit that shows a slightly dried edge. Ultimately this is a little touch but it does exhibit lovely focused, dark fruit and good length, with very chocolatey tannins offering a subtle density here. 93pts

Remarkable effort in the rsquo;99 vintage. Beautiful. Inky-black and very intense, built in a modern style, like a top Bordeaux classified-growth, with plenty of freshly crushed berries, cigar box, citrus, roasted chestnuts, tobacco and jammy plum to provide much pleasure. Ripe, firm tannins need time to soften the monolithic finish. Best from 2004 through 2020.
