For some, it conjures up images of five-star resorts and world renowned restaurants, but everyone agrees Napa Valley represents the pinnacle of great wines; one of the world's great wine capitals. Napa Cellars embodies the classic Napa Valley style - ripe, rich, balanced and collectible. Most importantly, the wines of Napa Cellars taste of the depth of this great wine region as much as the grapes themselves. In the valley's warm days and cool nights, our vineyards produce seven primary varieties for which Napa Valley has become famous. Try one of our classic wines, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them. Read less

The nose is a pleasant blend of red fruit, strawberries, plum, green grass and tar. The taste is very jammy up front, with rich fruit, plum, blackberry and strawberry that transitioned to some dusty limestone and smoke midpalate. The finish was smooth and very dry, with a smoky accent that lingered for a good while. I had an older vintage ... I believe a bit over priced for the lack of depth, but overall a nice balanced wine

Napa Valley, CaliforniaThe new 2012 vintage has arrived, but it's very limited!Orin Swift The Prisoner is a must-try red wine gem from a gifted and fast-rising winemaker, Dave Phinney. Considering that Wine Spectator has selected The Prisoner to join the ranks of the magazine's Top 100 Wines of the Year not just in one recent year (#47 in 2009 for the 2007 vintage) but 3 times in the past 6 years, it is nearly inconceivable that Dave Phinney began his winemaking career with 2 tons of purchased Zinfandel grapes just a year out of college in 1998! He recently purchased 48 acres of land in the hills above Oakville and hopes one day to build a winery there. We can all look forward to enjoying the evolution of Orin Swift Cellars! The 2011 vintage received a 92-point rating from Wine Spectator and we expect a similar score for this one. Robert Parker just rated it 90 points, so don't delay!Orin Swift The Prisoner is 46% Zinfandel blended with 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petite Sirah, 12% Syrah and 2% Charbono. The wine is dark red, almost garnet hue with bright red on the rim. Aromas of Bing cherry, espresso, roasted fig and vanillin oak accents are persistent. The entry is powerful and generous supported with lively acidity while flavors of ripe raspberry, pomegranate and wild berry fruit linger harmoniously. It was aged in both new and seasoned French and American oak. The wine is soft and round with weight, length and structure and good acidity to soften its big fruit. On the finish it is long and lingering with soft, velvety tannins.Enjoy Orin Swift The Prisoner with roast pork, grilled chicken, BBQ ribs, grilled vegetables and cheeses.

Napa Valley, CaliforniaThe new 2012 vintage has arrived, but it's very limited, as always! The Prisoner is a must-try red wine gem for anyone who loves Zinfandel! The label was recently sold by gifted winemaker Dave Phinney of Orin Swift Cellars to its new owner, The Prisoner Wine Company. Now he has passed the baton to winemaker Jen Beloz, former winemaker at Ravenswood, to carry on the legacy of The Prisoner. Robert Parker just rated the 2012 vintage 90 points, so don't delay! The Prisoner is 46% Zinfandel blended with 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petite Sirah, 12% Syrah and 2% Charbono. Brilliant ruby. Powerful aromas of candied blackberry, blueberry and licorice, with suggestions of lavender and cracked pepper. Lush, intensely flavored and supple in texture, offering spicy dark berry and cherry compote and olive tapenade flavors complicated by a subtle floral nuance. Finishes sappy and very long, with resonating spiciness, a hint of licorice and chewy, slow-building tannins.

What I think might end up being the best Beaucastel since the 1990 or 2001, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape offers a full-bodied, decadent style to go with awesome black and blue fruits, garrigue, licorice, crushed flowers and violets. The purity here is truly something, and it has fabulous mid-palate concentration, building tannin and massive texture. Given all of the fruit and texture here, it will no doubt drink well in its youth, but it should still be alive and kicking after two decades as well.

There are 20 000 cases of the 2012 The Prisoner which is an interesting blend of 46% Zinfandel 22% Cabernet Sauvignon 18% Petite Sirah 12% Syrah and a small amount of Charbono. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a big peppery meaty Rhone-like bouquet with hints of bay leaf unsmoked cigar tobacco black currants and sweet jammy cherries. Medium to full-bodied and explosively fruity this is a lovely hedonistic seriously endowed red to drink over the next 3-4 years. - Robert Parker Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
