Myriad Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2016

Member Review by EMark:

A lot of up front fruit--blackberry. It gives the impression of being a tad sweet. Normally, I would view that as a negative. Under the mid- rear- palate I get an unsweetened chocolate sensation that makes me think this is a real wine. Approachable now, but will, most assuredly keep for years.

Nose of dark fruit and, maybe, prune. Typical CS currant on the tip of the tongue. Some dustiness. Sturdy tannins. I was eager to open this one up. I may have been over eager. My remaining bottles will remain sideways for quite some time.

Nice, mouth-filling wine. Lots of dark fruit—blackberry, blueberry, sloe. I’m definitely not getting the cassis that I see in a lot of Napa Cabs. A little “jammy.”. Very sedate tannin, in my opinion. Nice acidic piquancy subdues the jammy observation.

Dark plum color. Dark berry fruit on the nose, but, also, slight hint of alcohol. Terrific on the tongue. Typical CS hit of cassis on the tongue. Also, a suggestion of oaky vanilla. Then, almost, some anise. Very subdued tannin makes this on a very easy drinker. Clearly, a “New World” styled wine, but, also, a big winner.
