Murrieta's Well 'The Spur' 2011
Winemaker's Notes:
The Spur celebrates the esteemed art of blending, combining the best the vineyard has to offer to handcraft the most interesting and sumptuous blend possible. This wine displays enticing aromas and flavors of black cherry and blueberry, with hints of chocolate, anise, spice and toasted oak. Mature tannins and balanced acidity lead to a smooth, lingering finish.

Editorial Reviews for Murrieta's Well 'The Spur'
31% Petite Sirah, 29% Petite Verdot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc Inky and earthy on the nose with stemmy herb notes, lots of American oak vanilla and saw dust on the nose which is rugged and raw. Tight and raw on entry as well, though this does show some nicey ripe soft tannins but there are plenty of them, along with moderately firm acids, or perhaps just lean fruit today that makes this seem to be quite structured. There’s some nice delicate blue plum and earthy blueberry fruit here, broad transparent and taut on the palate, with a nicely austere finish, long and nuanced with bitter chocolate, spicy and ivy accents to the decidedly blue fruits. Needs some time in the bottle to fully integrate, I would imagine this will be better in 6 to 12 months. 87pts
