Aromas of blackberry, red fruits, and oak. Napa styled Merlot (heavily oaked, alot of tannin for a Merlot, etc) 99% Merlot, 0.6 % Petite Verdot, 0.3% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker's Notes:

This is not your run of the mill wimpy Merlot. It’s sourced from bench and hillside vineyards, where the grapes struggle in character-building conditions. The anchor for this wine is Merlot grapes from Val Peline’s Terra Rosa vineyard which contribute big abundant tannins. We also added 1% Petit Verdot for depth and 0.5% Cabernet Sauvignon for added structure. The secret to our success is treating our Merlot like a Cabernet Sauvignon with a cold soak, extended maceration and aggressive cap management. The result is more concentrated, intense fruit and, by extension, a more concentrated and intense wine. In it, you’ll find blackberry, bay and thyme flavors combined with abundant and rich tannins, all on top of the signature soft, silky Merlot texture.
