What to Expect

Champagne is usually, but not always, a blended wine that generally includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and occasionally Pinot Muenier. In the blend each component contributes certain characteristics: Chardonnay adds finesse and a bright elegance, Pinot Noir adds richness and depth of fruit while small additions of Pinot Muenier add earthy complexities.

Winemakers Notes

This prestigious release honors the visionary work of our founder Guy Devaux. Our winemakers rigorously select fruit from more than 45 separate vineyards and 90 different lots. Only 14 small lots of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir made it into the 2000 DVX release. To craft this wine, individual lots are kept separate during fermentation to highlight individual vineyard character, creating a final blend of power and complexity. On the palate, DVX explodes with white and red berry flavors, with creamy layers of fresh, fig, white cherry and vanilla bean, supported by a refreshing acidity. The long-lasting read more...

Lovely sparkling wine. Very well balanced with nice sharp acidity. Biscuit and dough aromas with some green apple. Medium finish with tartness and green apple.

very nice sparkler. Very well balanced with crisp acidity and some nice citrus, yeast and peach in the nose with green apple and lemon in the mouth.

An hommage to the winery's late great winemaker Guy Devaux Mumm's vintage-dated DVX is their tte de cuve a selection of the finest lots of grapes which are then given white glove treatment. The 2000 is a worthy successor to its predecessors rich smooth and dramatic. It has the silky finesse of great Champagne with charming lime raspberry vanilla and smoky dough flavors. Should age well.
