Muga Rioja Blanco Bodegas Muga 2007
90 points Josh Raynolds (IWC): (90% viura and 10% malvasia) Pale chartreuse color. Smoky orange and white peach aromas are brightened by dusty minerals and baking spices. Fleshy and focused, offering moderately deep citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a late boost of tangy minerals. Gained weight with air while maintaining vibrancy, finishing long and silky, with notes of ripe pear and orange.
Pale yellow in color showing delicate aromas of lemon and pear with just a hint of wood on the end. Very well integrated and sensual. In the mouth, the wine is dry with a gentle acidity that perfectly drapes over my tongue and slowly ebbing away to leave only a light floral finish. This is an incredible wine, elegant and feminine, showing a range of flavors from white flowers to lemon grass over a lovely cream base.
Another winner from Muga. Lovely oaked white made mainly from Viura grapes. Nice hints of fruit (peaches, pear), nicely balanced with a nice finish.

Isaac Muga is one of Rioja's great characters and his wines share his exuberant personality. His white balances spicy oak and floral quince flavors. Medium-bodied and quite flavorful; enjoy this with zesty shrimp or chicken dishes.
