Dark, almost black, in color with streaks of midnight blue. Notes of black cherry, dark bitter chocolate and freshly ground coffee with a slight veil of vanilla that appears right at the end bouquet, is intoxicating. Viscous and dense in the mouth, with firm tannins, big acidity and lots of oak, it's immediately clear that this wine needs amble time to open and develop. Rich, spicy on the palate, while bursting with dark cherry and charcoal flavors, make sure you decant this well before you intend to drink it. This is a big wine that needs a lot of patience to experience its full glory!

The 2005 Torre Muga is composed of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, and 10% Graciano. Purple-colored and made in a more international style, it presents a brooding bouquet of pain grille, mineral, scorched earth, incense, and blackberry. Massive on the palate, the wine has tons of material, great density, and 6-8 years of cellaring potential. This packed and stacked effort will have a drinking window extending from 2017 to 2045. (75% tempranillo, 15% mazuelo and 10% graciano) Vivid ruby. Exotic aromas of raspberry and blackberry preserves, cherry-vanilla, cola, incense and potpourri. Weighty, creamy red and dark berry flavors are sweetened by vanillin oak and enlivened by pepper and spice qualities. The dark berry notes build with air and carry through the long, sweet finish. Very exotic stuff; give it a few years of bottle aging to let the oak and fruit harmonize. Racy and vivid, this modern red brims with black raspberry and blueberry fruit, backed by spicy oak, with cinnamon and mineral accents. The velvety texture is framed by well-integrated tannins. Drink now through 2018. 2,000 cases imported. -TM

Weingut: Bodegas MugaRegion: RiojaRebsorte: 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, 10% GracianoInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14 Vol.%Lagerfähigkeit: 10 - 15 Jahre ab Jahrgang Fassreife: 18 Monate in Barriques gereiftEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18°C Rotwein > Spanien > Rioja

Dichtes, dunkles Rot.

Winemaker's Notes:

95 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): The 2005 Prado Enea Gran Reserva spends 36-months in oak, nine months in new oak after which it is racked into American oak that is 'semi-new' (i.e. a new barrel that is 'broken in' with a wine beforehand). It has an unashamedly opulent bouquet of primal, ripe, boysenberry, mulberry, dark chocolate and crushed violets that blossom with aeration. The palate is full-bodied with crisp acidity cutting through the pure blackberry and cassis fruit. It has wonderful focus and intensity, though the finish demonstrates convincing composure. This is an outstanding Gran Reserva whose silky texture will instantly win you over. Drink 2013-2030+. (Aug 2012)
