Smooth, fleshy style has lovely blueberry and floral aromas and flavors, finishing with harmony and refined tannins. Seems ready to blossom into something really special. Best from 2006 through 2012.
Medium ruby with violet highlights. Deep aromas of black and white pepper-tinged blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry, accented by smoky bacon, licorice, clove, cinnamon, and hints of roasted coffee. Rich and viscous, with sappy flavors of creme de mure, vanilla and candied violet. This is supple and round but avoids overripe, pruney notes, remaining vibrant and energetic through the long finish, which features seamless tannins.
The 2004 Shiraz/Viognier (93% and 7% respectively), which spent 10 months in primarily French oak (25% new), is a classic South Australian red with more finesse and complexity because of the Viognier component. Reminiscent of a French Cote Rotie, its dense ruby/purple color is followed by a knock-out nose of lavender, acacia flowers, creme de cassis, tar, and spice. Layered, plump, opulently-textured, beautifully fruity, and long, it will drink well for 5ndash;7 years.
