Mourchon Cotes du Rhone-Villages Seguret Grande Reserve 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

93 points Robert Parker: The 2010 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Seguret Grande Reserve is sensational. A two-grape blend of two-thirds Grenache and the rest Syrah, with the Grenache aged in tank and the Syrah in small barrels, it has terrific freshness, delineation and purity. It is full-bodied, black/purple in color, with stunning richness and intensity. This is another great effort from proprietor McKinlay, who has become the reference point for the wines from the idyllic Provencal hilltop village of Seguret. (Oct 2012)

Set between the picturesque village of Séguret and Mont Ventoux, Domaine de Mourchon was established by the McKinlay family in 1998 with the purchase of 17 hectares of mature vines. Constructed to the highest modern standards, the new winery was completed in 2000. Our TERRACED HILLSIDE VINEYARD, at an average altitude of 350m, is predominately clay and grey limestone which, combined with its microclimate, gives this location a terroir of unique quality. Careful husbandry using natural and organic techniques - ‘culture raisonée’ as it is known in France - in conjunction with combined traditional and advanced methods of vinification, results in a well structured wine with pronounced fruit aromas and strong colours. Powerful, intense and balanced; delivering big notes of dark berries, mocha and black licorices. On the palate it is structured and long lasting with a slightly smokey finish.
