What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

Great nose on this wine and it was great on the palate as well. Rich, full, well structured cab.

Well structured and balanced, the fruit character is rich and dense with generous well-knit tannins. Big yet approachable, the dark blackberry and subtle spice notes weave into the body and texture to give a very complete palate and lingering finish.

The glass I sampled of this wine offered great potential on the nose, however there was some heat initially and the fruit was over-powered by the very, very strong oak flavors. However my sample was immediately poured and did not have much time to decant. I would expect some more depth to the flavors after a good decanting. Overall, very approachable, balanced, great with a hearty meal!

Delish, leather, tobacco, complex - it's not 2004, but it's great

A really great "old school' cab. Tannic and silky, with lots of oak and black cherries and subtle currants.
