Mount Pleasant 'Elizabeth' Cellar Aged Semillon 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

*5 Star Winery James Halliday Wine Companion* * Recommended in Matthew Jukes' 100 Best Australian Wines 2014/15* *92+ Pts Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate June 2014* *93 Points - Jamie Goode, The Wine Anorak, July 2015* Mount Pleasant Elizabeth Semillon has been unstoppable since it began its show career in 1981 and is regarded as a Hunter Valley Semillon of tremendous pedigree. As one of the few Australian winemakers that hold back their wines to release with a number of years on the bottle age, Mount Pleasant has sustained its reputation for long term ageing and produces Semillon of exceptional quality. This Semillon is full of citrus fruits on the palate, with a hint of honey and herbs. Enjoy with chicken, fish and Thai dishes, as well as turkey at Christmas. "At Mount Pleasant, we make definitive Hunter Valley wines that are unique to site and that evoke a real sense of place. The nature of our climate and the styles we make mean we cannot hide behind fancy winemaking, nor the latest fad. We make wines that are true, wines that are authentic, wines that tell our story." Jim Chatto, winemaker. "Opening with very pretty, evolved Semillon notes of key lime pie, lemon pastilles, lemongrass and dried herbs dotted with hints of fresh hay and crushed stones, the light-bodied and bone dry 2007 Family Collection Cellar Aged Elizabeth Semillon has a racy line of acidity cutting through the citrus and dried herb flavors before finishes very long. Drink it now to 2019+." 92+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Highly aromatic nose is toasty and citrussy. Quite intense and full with some lime oil notes. The palate is powerful, vivid and citrussy with a bit of spiciness, and nice pear and peach notes. Lively and intense with bold flavours - developing nicely. 93/100" Jamie Goode, The Wine Anorak, July 2015
