Mount Horrocks Riesling Clare Valley Cordon Cut 2005

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

The 2004 Riesling Cordon Cut is a brilliant beerenauslese-styled offering exhibiting a light straw/gold hue, superb definition, and tremendous notes of honeyed tropical fruits, citrus, and peaches as well as plenty of botrytis. It is a medium-bodied, concentrated, moderately sweet Riesling meant to be utilized as a dessert wine. How it will age is unknown, but it is gorgeous to drink now and over the next several years.

Auburn today is a town with many attractions for visitors. As the gateway to the Clare Valley wine region, it has wineries, restaurants, galleries, tearooms and a variety of shops. Travel to the Clare Valley, famed for its wineries, restaurants, country pubs and Riesling Trail. The Clare Valley is perfect for holidays where you want to immerse yourself in the finer things in life. Settle into a bed and breakfast within one of the valley's historic villages, where you'll relish the vistas and the charm of this engaging region. Mount Horrocks Wines is operated by proprietor / winemaker Stephanie Toole, who restricts production to approximately 4,500 cases per annum to achieve her aims of quality and single vineyard expression. With an emphasis on sustainable natural farming and organic practices, Mount Horrocks Wines has vineyards at three sites totalling 10 hectares in the Clare Valley. Stephanie carefully crafts her wines, which she describes as “essentially hand made food wines with emphasis on structure as well as generous fruit flavours”. All grapes are hand picked, and only the finest French oak is used for those wines spending time in barrel. Mount Horrocks Wines was established in 1982, purchased by Stephanie in 1993 and in April 1998, Stephanie opened for cellar door sales in the renovated Auburn Railway station. Read less

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Sweet and rich but beautifully balanced, with enough acidity to keep it fresh and lively. Amazingly subtle, with hints of mayflowers, honey, pineapple and apricot that pick up speed and amplitude as they race through the long, elegant finish. Riesling. Drink now through 2016.

Sweet and rich, yet beautifully lifted with lacy acidity. A wine of refinement that weaves passion fruit, lime and green plum notes through the rich, classic Riesling fruit. Finishes with impeccable balance. Drink now through 2020.

Bright gold. Luscious, honeyed aromas of vivid peach, apricot, poached pear and orange peel. A refreshingly bitter note of blood orange adds energy to the flavors of tangerine, apricot and white peach, with a tangy note of cinnamon perking up the back end. Finishes with impressive length and a sappy peach quality.
