Mouchão 2003

Member Review by John Fordyce:

From a winery built in 1901 and still run by the same family. The first to plant, use and develop the Alicante Bouschet variety that today defines this wine. Hand picked, foot trodden, matured in 5000lL oak tuns for two years, aged in bottle for two or more years prior to release. A deep garnet colour, striking in its intensity. On the nose there are notes of mint, eucalyptus, jammy fruit, spice and tobacco leaves. On the palate this wine is full, with rounded but firm tannins and a pleasing acidity. The finish is persistent and longering. Parker - 93 Best with food and friends, especially rich roasts at a big table
