Moss Wood is a premium wine producer located in the Margaret River Wine region of Western Australia. The area is regarded as one of Australia's premium grape growing regions. Since 1984 Clare and Keith Mugford have consistently sought and applied new knowledge and technology to enhance grape and wine quality at Moss Wood. Together they have created a stable of wines that are distinguished by their consistency over many vintages and their ability to age superbly. Over the years as the company has grown, so too has the team who are all dedicated to the same pursuit of excellence. The wines produced at Moss Wood are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Semillon and from Moss Wood's Ribbon Vale Vineyard: Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Merlot and Merlot. Also produced is a predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon wine, Amy’s, from Glenmore Vineyard in Yallingup and Montgomery Brothers Vineyard in Cowaramup. Unwavering for nearly forty years the vision for Moss Wood is that of uncompromising quality, constantly seeking to produce the perfect fruit and flawless great wine. In an era of corporatisation within the Australian wine industry, Moss Wood has remained a small family run business whose development has been driven by winemaking and viticultural pursuit of excellence, rather than shifting consumer trend. Owners Keith and Clare Mugford enjoy the challenge of consistently producing high quality wines at Moss Wood. All decisions made in the vineyard and winery are based on the effect they will have on the quality of the wine. Read less

The nose shows dark fruits of redcurrants and blueberries as well as some complex earthy notes not seen before, which we attribute to the inclusion of Merlot (about 5%) in the blend for the first time. There is also soft, toasty oak. On the palate, the wine also displays its 'regionality' with clear blueberry flavours filling the front and midpalate. The structure is firm with high acidity and assertive tannins, although both are balanced by excellent length of flavour.
