Food Pairings for Moschioni Cof Pignolo
Inky, dark purple with dark ruby highlights. This meaty wine leads you in with pungent aromatics that tell of Brambly berries, grilled meat and mocha/choco elements. A tremendously delicious mouthful of blackberry, black spiced plum and undercurrents of spice cake and pepper. A super concentrated finish that tapers off pleasantly into round and supple tannins and a pure fruit finish.
Bastianich & Lynch (Vino Italiano Buying Guide): Some of the most intense, ageworthy reds made in Friuli, and they'll cost you: the rare pignolo (a dark, brooding giant) is the one to lock up first... (2008) 2004 vintage rated 92 points by Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): ...a massive, powerful and tannic effort packed with dark jammy fruit, tobacco, scorched earth, herbs and new leather flavors... In 2004 5% of the fruit was dried slightly to give this wine additional richness. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
