Mosaic Vineyards & Winery Merlot Sonoma County 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Aromas of cherry, plum and toasted oak hold firm on the palate with black tea and cedar qualities held firm by a velvety tannin it is reminiscent of a young Pomerol or St. Emilion. This is a big Merlot, impressive now and with great rewards on the near horizon.

Mosaic Vineyards & Winery:
Founded in 1986, the winery is set in the center of our northern Alexander Valley vineyards in the heart of Sonoma County, allowing us to carefully tend each small vineyard lot from bud break through harvest. The winery was constructed with the blending concept in mind, and is equipped for the production and aging of many small and select lots. Every care was taken to enable the winemaker to preserve the quality of the grapes and express his craft.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Nice merlot. Good fruit and balanced tannins. Definitely a drink it if you got it scenario but in a good way. Raspberry on the front palette and a smooth lingering merlot after taste. Very enjoyable... I get why it got the accolades and awards.
