The first wine to display more than a trace of reduction though the reductive funk does not affect the medium weight flavors which are definitely finer and quite pure and built more on a base of finesse and minerality that is particularly noticeable on the round and sweet finish that manages to remain quite detailed. Solid quality here with both elegance and punch.

(an assemblage of numerous smaller parcels) Good bright dark red. Black raspberry, mocha and a whiff of game on the nose. Sweeter and creamier than the village wine, with redder fruit flavors and good finesse. Not hugely dense but boasts good richness and length. Tannins are youthfully taut, and the finish shows notes of mocha, game and tarry oak.
