This too is fresh and bright with pretty raspberry and blackberry liqueur aromas and strong earth nuances that introduce very forward and easy flavors that are surprisingly precise and this finishes with a dense, sappy and moderately structured backend. This is not typical but ultimately more interesting than the Combe du Dessus.

($107) Ruby-red. Aromas of mulled cider; like a liqueur of spices, with a whiff of damp earth. Broad and exotic on the palate, with currant and spice flavors. Not cooked but not Burgundian either. Finishes a bit tired, with substantial, slightly dry tannins. This was considerably fresher from barrel. (Mortet noted at this point that he was purposely not showing me "the monsters" en Champs and au Velle, both with alcohol of 15%.)
