Morichetti Malbec 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2002 harvest is widely though of as the breakthrough vintage for Argentinean Malbec, producing wines of singular character and definition. The Malbec grape, at its most expressive, offers extraordinary aromas, structure and balance and we believe the Morichetti Malbec exemplifies the very best of these traits. Morichetti Malbec provides attrative red and deep violet colors with luxuriant, smoky aromas and impressive glycerol texture. Intense and complex flavors of red, black and dried fruits, with notes of sweetness and spice result from grapes selected and harvested in optimum conditions. Long-lasting on the palate, the wine is firmly structured, velvety and richly layered with great focus, taste and balance." (Winemaker notes)

Arriving in Mendoza, Argentina, from his native Italy in 1879, Pietro Morichetti channeled his energy and passion into developing vineyards in his adopted land, introducing new European grape varieties and handling methods. Founded his own winery and devoted himself to looking after the wines which began a family tradition. His pioneering spirit and vision resulted in the birth of new wines that achieved international recognition in both the 1914 International Exposition in Geneva and the 1918 Congress of Exhibitors in Milan. Today, generations later, we honour the name of Pietro, pioneer of viticulture, keeping alive the spirit and passion in Nvinemaking. Read less
