What to Expect

Blaufränkisch is a grape most commonly associated with Austria, though it is grown with much success throughout Eastern Europe and parts of the United State's Pacific Northwest. It produces rich, medium-bodied wines with juicy acidity and crisp tannins that support intensly fruity flavors of wild blackberries and raspberries. The wines benefit from several years in the cellar.

Winemakers Notes

Dunkles Rubingranat, fester Farbkern, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand. In der Nase intensive Beerenfrucht, zarte ätherische Nuancen. Am Gaumen saftig dunkle Beeren schokoladiges Tannin, samtig und bereits gut zugänglich.

Editorial Reviews

Boy was this beautiful! I loved everything about this wine. Burgundy in Austria! The nose smells like a farmer's hands with a touch of wet earth, a hint of nutty pipe tobacco and rushed black fruits with just an edge of sappy bark. In the mouth this is pure, elegant and refined with a wonderfully fresh fruited, grape/black cherry. black currant fruit is presented in a crisp, tense, perfectly balanced package. Killer wine 93pts

Reviews

With this wine, it is truly a challenge to decide which is more amazing, the nose or the palate. The nose gives intense dark berry and floral, violet notes. The palate is focused with well-integrated tannins that indicate great potential to age. Fortunately the only decision one needs to make is the decision to take a bottle home. The wine is aged for 18-20 months in oak but woodiness doesn't show on the nose or palate. Cellar or decant for best results.

Pure. Lean and acidic, this is a very classically styled wine. Bitter cherries dominate. Would work well with food, given its balance and length.

Light red fruits and a bit of spice, cranberries, a hint of coffee and much darker than I expected. Medium to high, well integrated acidity.
