A real family owned winery, founded in 1982 they didnt event have a tasting room until 2007! Made from 11 year old vines, this is the only organic winery in the appellation. The grapes come from 12 clones across 8 rootstocks giving them a lot of diversity. Its grown on poor soil, with dense plantings. Rich powerful nose of cherry and leather, very fruity in the nose. A very powerful wine, firm tannins, still young and tight, but with a lot of potential. Very mineral, very acidic.

Morgan 2009 Double L Pinot Noir presents aromas of blackberry, plum and almond with hints of black licorice and clove. Flavors of cranberry and leather are backed by a deft touch of toasty oak and structuring tannins. An exquisite match for duck confit, lamb shank, and prime rib. - Winery ** Only 3 in Stock **

There is a decided sense of something brooding and backward about this dark, impressively extracted youngster, but very young the wine is, and simple, come-hither fruit is not one of its virtues. Its flashes of very ripe cherries are seasoned with lots of hardwood spice, and, while fairly intense, its flavors are presently bound up in structural acids and tannins that leave it a bit rough and raw at the finish. Put it away in full faith that it will grow, and allow it at least three or four years before pulling its cork. Big, rich and heavy as usual, a full-bodied Pinot Noir with thick tannins and jammy cherry, berry, currant and oak flavors. Rather clumsy now, this heroic Pinot Noir might do interesting things over the years.
