Morgan Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands 2015

External Review:

Rating: 91/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. We are not ones to taste wines by their numbers; the truth is always in the glass, not on the label or in measurements of alcohol, acidity and pH as this wine so clearly demonstrates. It comes with rich-smelling, fruity and oaky first impressions in the nose and follows with an early bit of flesh on the palate followed by deep flavors and a firming up finish. With alcohol up near 14.5% and acidity under 0.60%, there are too many who would prejudge it as soft and hot. And they will not ever know how wrong they are. That just leaves more for the rest of us who drink wine, not formulas.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Morgan makes one of the best, most powerful Santa Lucia Chardonnays, and this less expensive bottling is a good approximation of their top tier. It's strong and potent, with cool-climate acidity framing mouthwatering pineapple jam, Key lime pie, kiwi fruit, white peach and vanilla cream flavors.
