Moreau Chablis' 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 vintage in Chablis continued the string of excellent vintages in the region, with a hot, dry summmer perfectly ripening the fruit for harvest. The 2009 Chablis AC is a classically styled Chablis; medium in body, ripe with mineral, bright fruit, salty "sea-air" saline and firm acidity on the finish. Fabien Moreau describes the vintage as a "distinctly ripe vintage that achieved excellent maturities across the board." "...an extremely clean harvest that ranged between 12.2 and 13.5% in potential alcohols. As such, we did no chaptalization at all." "2009 is a pretty vintage that should drink well young."

This smells quite leesy on the nose with tree bark and sweet acacia notes over green plum and piercingly floral tones. This rolls across the palate with vibrant acids and a lovely ripeness which adds roundness but not huge volume. The fruit shows hints of apricot, heirloom apple and some almond milk notes all layered over river stones and steel. Minerality absolutely takes control on the fairly long finish which still maintains fruit-driven perfumes but surrenders rather completely to acid and mineral. This is a minor Chablis but one that is very complete. 89pts

Ripe and juicy, with orange, apricot and melon flavors on a creamy texture. On the soft side, yet not heavy or dull, with a long, citrus-tinged aftertaste. Drink now through 2019. -BS Wine Spectator. A Chardonnay wine from Burgundy in France. 2009 Christian Moreau & Fils Chablis Les Clos 750ml

Sexy aromas of tangerine and orange peel. Juicy and exotic, with fruit-driven flavors of tangerine and spice. A fruity, youthful village wine that's less complicated than the 2008 version but offers excellent juicy cut. Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A taut, steely, very mineral wine, showing a tense, textured character. Fruit flavors run from grapefruit to peach, with a delicious tang of zest along the way. With its acidity and structure, this is a wine for long-term aging. -R.V. Wine Enthusiast. A Chardonnay wine from Burgundy in France. 2009 Christian Moreau & Fils Chablis Les Clos 750ml
