Morande Gran Reserva Chardonnay Casablanca Valley 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

*Decanter South American Chardonnay Panel Tasting - Highly recommended* Viña Morandé was founded in 1996 with the aim of producing innovative wines of great quality, with a clear focus on the development of its brands. They have always prided ourselves on providing an excellent service and commitment to our customers, consumers and the environment. To achieve this they have developed production processes and quality guarantees that includes the following: selection of terroirs, grape varieties and clones, vineyard architecture, advanced irrigation systems, organic management and systems for monitoring the growth, ripening and development of the fruit. The fruit comes from the Belen vineyard in Casablanca, Chile. The soils are loamy sand, with flat topography and low fertility. There is a cool temperate climate, influenced by the sea, which allows slow ripening with high development of aromas and fresh acidity. The grapes are harvested manually. The whole cluster is pressed directly to obtain higher-quality wine. The juice is fermented in 300 and 500-litre casks made of French oak and remains in them for nine months in all. Pale yellow with green highlights. The delicate nose shows white fruits, flowers and fresh citrus, with notes of dried fruit and toasted hazelnuts. Very fresh palate with a delicious balance of acidity and fruit, and a long elegant persistant finish. Drink 2015 - 2020.
