Moraitico Epochi Red 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

A terrific blend of Mantilaria and Monemvasia. It starts with rich dark fruit flavors that fill the mouth, supple tannins, and a beautiful long finish. Aged for 1 year in French oak barrels. Goes well with meat and yellow cheese.

The Moraitis family came to Paros from the Peloponese during the revolution of 1821. In 1970, Theodore Moraitis chose the youngest of his four children, George Moraitis, as his sole heir in order to keep up the family wine tradition. George Moraitis studied oenology in Athens. During his studies, along with the theoretical training, he was able to intern in one of the biggest wine production companies, Votris of Bodosakis, for four years. There he gained experience next to worthy oenologists, both Greek and French. After completing his studies, he returned to Paros where he continues the family tradition of growing high quality organic varieties. Visitors are welcome to come and visit the Moraitis vineyards and taste our wines. This charming little winery is situated just outside Naoussa of Paros, in the bay of Fykia, and is open all year around from 10.00 to 14.00. Read less
