Moorooduc Estate Victoria Pinot Noir 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"Made predominantly from McIntyre Vineyard fruit, with a little of the best from the Garden and Robinson Vineyards. The wine is dark in colour and fruit expression, with exotic spice perfume and wonderful structure, complexity, and length, with velvety firm tannins and bright acidity that balance the depth of fruit; showing just exactly why we are so excited about producing pinot noir here at Moorooduc Estate. Drink young with Chinese-style crispy-skin duck, or age to enjoy in 5-8 years, or longer, with a semihard ewes milk cheese or a perfectly cooked coq au vin." Winemaker's notes

Established in 1981 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc Estate is a small, family run wine business that has developed an enviable reputation for complex and food friendly wines. Moorooduc Estate offers some of the finest of Mornington Peninsula wines and and hand crafted produce available for tasting and purchase. On weekends, casual food and woodfired pizza is available at cellar door from 12-3pm. Great coffee, a chat and a glass of wine can be enjoyed from 11am-4pm Thursday-Monday. Our philosophy in everything we do is to make the most of top quality ingredients. Intensive, hands-on care in the vineyard, with minimal use of chemicals, produces the best possible fruit for our wines. Wild yeast ferments and minimal intervention winemaking, with a nod to traditional Burgundian techniques, allow our wines to express their site specificity, or terroir. Similarly, we aim to source ingredients for the food we serve that are seasonal, local and organic. Read less

Bright ruby-red. High-pitched red berry aromas are complicated by notes of Asian spices rose and smoky minerals. Lively finely etched red fruit flavors gain richness with aeration and pick up deeper cola and licorice qualities. Sappy seamless and impressively pure on the finish with its lasting notes of candied red fruits and flowers. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

Mid-crimson; the bouquet is loaded with seductive sweet red and black fruits, Asian spices and a little gamey complexity; the palate is silky and seductive on entry, the mid-palate with a firm structure in harmony with the generous fruit; long, layer...
